    Blind Ambition

    Naomi is developing the feature film ‘Blind Ambition’ with Silver Salt Films. It tells the story of a teenage girl who fights for the right to live an independent life in her cabin in the woods, despite the fact she’s going blind. Writer – Georgie Morrell, Co-writer and Director – Naomi Wright. Georgie Morrell is a comedian, writer and actor, recently nominated for BBC Audio Awards ‘Best Debut Performance’. Georgie took her debut 4-star show, ‘A Poke in the Eye’, to Edinburgh Fringe 2016, which then transferred to the Soho Theatre. It returned to Edinburgh 2017 alongside her second full-length show, ‘The Morrell High Ground’, to sold-out performances. Both shows are currently touring. Both Georgie and her work have featured on BBC 5Live, BBC Radio 4 and Channel 5, along with Time Out, Insight and Metro. Georgie is an advocate for disabled rights and regularly writes for The Huffington Post. ‘Blind Ambition’ is her feature film debut.

    Girl in the Glass

    Naomi recently wrote and directed this short film starring Dominique Tipper (‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, ‘The Expanse’). It’s about a woman obsessed with order and cleanliness who is encouraged to abandon her pointless domestic ideals by a small ghost. Naomi joins a long line of filmmakers who’ve explored the claustrophobia of the domestic, from Charlie Chaplin to Chantal Akerman.

    The South Bank Show - Amma Asante

    Naomi produced and directed an hour-long ‘South Bank Show’ documentary on writer-director Amma Asante, following her as she shot her fourth feature ‘Where Hands Touch’. This aired in Summer 2017 on Sky Arts and was made for Directors Cut Productions. ‘The Telegraph’ said it was “an incisive, entertaining and unflinchingly honest profile of one of the UK’s brightest film-making talents”.

    The South Bank Show – The Royal Shakespeare Company – Director – 60 min, ITV1 (2009) Naomi shot and directed this historic film, which was the last ‘South Bank Show’ to be transmitted by ITV. It went behind the scenes as the RSC embarked on an ambitious and exciting new programme of work inspired by Russia and the ex-Soviet Union.     String – Short film – 10 minutes (2006) This is the trailer of a comic short drama which Naomi wrote and directed. ‘String’ played at fourteen festivals around the world, including Palm Springs, Rome and Sao Paulo. The film was winner of four audience awards, including ‘Best Short’ at Washington DC International Film Festival. The film is about a man on his way to work who finds a label on the ground attached to a piece of string. The label reads: FOLLOW STRING FOR HAPPINESS Intrigued, the man abandons going to work and begins to follow the string, gathering it up into a ball as he goes. Will he manage to reach the string’s end? And what will he find if he gets there?

    Join My Band

    Join My Band – Short film – 15 minutes (2010) Naomi wrote and directed this 15 minute musical comedy drama about a boy who starts a band to impress a girl, starring Jessie Buckley (‘War and Peace’ ‘Beast’) and Max Fowler (‘The Killing’). The score is by Oscar short listed singer-songerwriter Lucinda Belle. The film screened all over the world and won a “Special Mention” from the Jury at the Hamburg International Short Film Festival.
