Fishermen from the ‘fifth list’ are the economic backbone and largest labor force in all fishermen communities in Cuba. Fishing is their sustain, culture and life. At the same time, they acknowledge that the future of fisheries depends on the balance between their economic needs, environmental preservation, governmental will, climate change impacts and other cultural factors. Several interests and stakeholders take part in this story, narrated by voices from five different coastal communities in Cuba.

Viva is a 2015 Spanish-language Irish drama film, set in Cuba, directed by Paddy Breathnach and written by Mark O'Halloran. The film stars Héctor Medina as a young drag performer who, after reuniting with his estranged father, must come to terms with his sexuality. The film was selected as the Irish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards.[3][4][5] It made the December shortlist of nine films, but was not nominated.

When survivors of the Chernobyl disaster arrive in Cuba for medical treatment, a local Russian literature professor is ordered to act as a translator.

The film follows Carlos Acosta - nicknamed Yuli by his father - from growing up on the streets of his native Cuba, through his time at the country’s National Dance School, to performing at London’s prestigious Royal Ballet.
