Inspired by true events, this powerful, award-winning short film explores the varying facets of grief and the way in which it pulls us apart and brings us together. When tragedy strikes, Ruby (writer-director-producer Cat White) finds herself turning to the water for comfort. In the frigid waters of a nearby lake, she turns to wild swimming in search of answers. By swimming each day at dawn and forming an unlikely friendship with fellow swimmer Gloria (veteran British actor Celia Imrie), Ruby learns to accept her grief and the grief of those around her. Selected for over forty film festivals worldwide, Fifty-Four Days has garnered nominations and awards at BAFTA, Oscar and BIFA qualifying festivals including Best Short Film winner at British Urban Film Festival, Best Narrative Short nominee at Pan African Film Festival, Best Midlands Film winner at Beeston Film Festival, Best Narrative Short winner at Roxbury International Film Festival & I Will Tell International Film Festival, runner up at the 225 Film Club and multiple other wins including Best Actress, Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography.

Animation
To My Daughter is is a hand-drawn animated short film based on This Thread of Gold, the critically acclaimed debut book by Catherine Joy White (Forbes 30 Under 30 Class of 2022). Described by Afua Hirsch, author of best-seller Brit(ish): On Race, Identity and Belonging, as a ‘stunning debut’, This Thread of Gold was published in the UK on National Windrush Day in June 2023. The book celebrates Black womanhood, weaving a gorgeous tapestry of resilience connecting Beyoncé, Nina Simone, Shirley Chisholm, and Meghan Markle, as well as those throughout history who resisted in secret through trusted networks. This Thread of Gold was selected as the I’s Book of the Month and as an essential book for 2023 by the New Statesman. It is currently being adapted into a curriculum to be taught in schools across the UK. It will be released in 2024 in the US by Penguin Random House’s Tiny Reparations Books. The film illustrates one of the most powerful passages in the book - a letter from Catherine to the daughter she might one day have, guiding her through the ‘magical, messy years of becoming’. Part guidebook, part exuberant narrative and part poetry, it will be a rich, visual standalone piece intended to inspire and embolden the next generation of women. TO MY DAUGHTER will be made by an incredible team of women. Gugu Mbatha-Raw MBE (BELLE, LOKI, SURFACE) has recorded the narration that runs through the film. Catherine has adapted the chapter for the screen and will direct in partnership with acclaimed animator and director Helena Bonastre. BAFTA-winning Gibraltan composer Holly Buhagiar is attached to write the score and the film will be produced by Vanessa Wheeler at International Emmy Award-winning animation studio, Lupus Films, with company founders Ruth Fielding and Camilla Deakin as executive producers.
